In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, Chicago-based artist David Heo extends a heartfelt invitation to art enthusiasts for an open studio walkthrough and sale, featuring a diverse curation of both new and archived pieces. Following a three-year absence from the city’s art scene, this event offers a unique opportunity for local patrons and viewers to immerse themselves and engage directly with Heo's artistic practice.

Rooted in the intricate interplay of Third Culture Individualism, Heo's artwork delves into the nuances of identity and belonging within our present-day milieu. Through his exploration of painting, layering, and collaging, Heo's fascination with materials develops with each creation, subtly mirroring his own layered identity and evolving viewpoint. Whether it’s his introspective approach with symbolism and allegories, or his unique interpretation of contemporary design, each creation embodies Heo's distinctive style and narrative, celebrating creativity and connection informed by his lived experiences and Chicago's vibrant art communities.

You are warmly invited to join us on May 11th, 2024, from 4 PM until 7 PM, for this open studio event. The artist will be present as he offers an intimate glimpse into the depth and breadth of his creative journey. As you peruse the range of works, we hope you enjoy all the in-person details of each piece, inquire about their stories, and maybe find the perfect one to take home.
