Kwentuhan at Kamayan (Filipino Community Summit in Chicagoland)

In the spirit of our bayanihan tradition and culture, the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns cordially invites you to a Kwentuhan at Kamayan, Filipino community summit and potluck on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at 3248 W. Montrose Avenue Chicago, Illinois 60618.

We are bringing together Filipino community leaders and members from different organizations, churches, schools, workplaces and businesses to understand the needs, issues and concerns of our kababayan here in Chicagoland and in the Philippines.

These include different issues and concerns that we encounter in varying degrees, like high cost of living, low or underpaid/double jobs, racial discrimination, ICE raids, detention, deportation and more, relate closely to the issues and concerns back home in the Philippines. These issues force us and our families to join the 6,500 Filipinos who leave the country everyday and sacrifice being separated from them, just to provide better and greater opportunities to our family. We have many kababayan here in Chicagoland, that are facing and experiencing difficulties and challenges in trying to survive while in the same time providing support to their families back home in the Philippines.

Today more than ever we need to stand together as a community, to support and protect each other from many different forms of abuse, exploitation and human rights violations. We need to show that we are strong together and we can face anything come what may.

With all that, we ask you to join us in bringing together our community from many different walks of life and generations. Let us respond to the urgent needs, issues and concerns of our community and kababayan.

We know that everyone is busy and you may not be able to join us this time, but we would still love to have you in our future activities and joint partnerships and projects like organizing a resource fair for our community. Please let us know if you are interested.
