Event Date: May 14, 2025 6:00PM – 7:00PM

A different kind of book club focusing on narratives that can be read in a single sitting. Short stories are a great way to explore genres, authors, and ideas without the commitment of a longer book. Read a unique story every month and meet virtually with other adults for discussion.

This month's story is "Three Women of Chuck's Donuts" by Anthony Veasna So from Afterparties. It is also available to read online from The New Yorker.

In "Three Women of Chuck's Donuts," Sothy and her daughters, Tevy and Kayley, spend their evenings together at the family donut shop, Chuck's Donuts. When a mysterious customer begins frequenting the shop, the women make a series of hypotheses about his identity. By the end of the story, the women's experiences with each other, and the man, teach them about their pasts and the future.
