Defiant Silk: An AAPI Speakeasy Spectacular

In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, The Newport Theater hosts a full three-day festival of fringe arts from Chicago’s Asian American Pacific Islander community.  It’s a jam-packed weekend of burlesque, belly dancing, poetry, circus arts, drag, music, cultural dance, and more!  

Defiant Silk includes
“Raks Geek: A Sci-Fi + Fantasy Speakeasy” (Friday, May 12 at 9pm)
“Newport Peek-Easy” (Saturday, May 13 at 7pm)
and the weekend’s big finish, “Fire + Dragons” (Sunday, May 14 at 7pm).

Additionally, workshops will be held during Saturday and Sunday afternoon by a variety of arts and wellness professionals to round out a full weekend of Asian American culture!
