Love Chaos Kin follows white-presenting, Navajo-descent twins and their Tamil immigrant adoptive parents over 12 years. As the twins reconnect with their birth parents, the film captures their complex reckoning with identity, race, and belonging. It's a story that challenges traditional narratives, embracing discomfort and hard-won moments of love.
This film is particularly relevant now, as it explores intersectionality, class, and the ways people come together rather than perpetuating harmful hate rhetoric. It is also a longitudinal look at human experiences in adoption that has never been captured in this way. It's an emotional and humorous joyride that has already electrified audiences at limited festival screenings.
At its New England Premiere at the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival, we won the award for Best Cross-Cultural Filmmaking. The film also served as a Centerpiece at CAAMfest, sparking powerful conversations.
