Rehearsing Begumpura: A Theater Workshop, Chicago

Join an intensive three-day immersive theatrical experience exploring identity and social justice through "Rehearsing Begumpura," a theatre workshop designed to deconstruct hierarchies and rehearse radical equality. This session uses movement, text, stories, music and performance to engage with the people who are from South Asia or South Asian descendants. This is a free workshop that aims to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for all participants.

No prior theater experience required—just bring an open mind and authentic self!

About the Facilitator Maulikraj Shrimali is a theater artist, director, playwright, and scholar. He is the founder of Whistle Blower Theater Group and a PhD student in Performance Studies at Northwestern University. His work integrates community-based performance methodologies to explore social justice and embodied dialogue.
