Willy Wilkinson, Author, MPH, is an award-winning transgender writer and public health consultant, cultural competency trainer, public speaker, and spoken word performer who has been advocating for marginalized population since the early days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. He is the author of the Lambda Literary Award-winning book Born on the Edge of Race and Gender: A Voice for Cultural Competency, which illuminates trans experiences from a Chinese American and mixed heritage perspective, and transforms the memoir genre into a cultural competency tool. He is the recipient of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalist Association Award, and the Transgender Law Center vanguard Award.


Presented by the UIC AANAPISI Initiative in partnership with the Reimagining Masculinities Initiative at UIC, a collaborative project of the Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change. Co-sponsored by the UIC Global Asian Studies Program, UIC Gender and Sexuality Center, and Invisible 2 Invincible: Asian Pacific Islander Pride of Chicago.
