In her first large-scale solo exhibition, Xiao explores the challenges she's faced as a woman, a foreigner and a young artist. Covering themes spanning culture, mental health and multiculturalism, Xiao digs into our most authentic nature, our relationships with the world around us and each other, and our inevitable growth as we learn to overcome life's challenges. Using the profound Asian mythologies, literature and philosophy, Xiao's art serves as a bridge to acknowledgment and awareness. It is a lens through which we see who we are, our ideologies and fears, our strengths and weaknesses—our most crude yet refined form.

Everyone is cordially invited to explore her first solo exhibition, Retrospective, on view at Indian Prairie Public Library in Darien, IL, from Dec. 5th through Jan. 1st! This exhibition will showcase over 40 paintings, spanning across the library's beautiful two-floor space. It is a look at her life and the world around her through my multicultural lenses and a most intimate conversation she's having with herself but also with her audience. The exhibition is completely free, and everyone can donate to @ipplinfo to help keep this safe and inspiring public space running so they can continue to give back to the community.
