When Things Fall Apart: A Tale of Lost Souls

'When Things Fall Apart: A Tale of Lost Souls' is a play in English produced by JustUs Repertory, Directed by Dr. Gowri Ramnarayan and taken from the Epic Mahabharata. It is the story of Drona - veteran of the military arts, guru to the princes of the Kuru clan. But who exactly is this Drona? What drives a self-made warrior, teacher, and statesman to do great and terrible things by turn? How do his unhappy wife Kripi and wayward son Ashwatthama handle Drona’s rise to fame and power in a treacherous, terrifying world in which they do not belong? Are Drona, Kripi and Ashwatthama being pulled apart, and within, by the same forces that shatter their world and ours- jealousy, greed, intolerance and lust for power? After the screening of the play, Dr. Gowri will be available to share the rationale for her interpretation and take your questions and comments. The play is 82 minutes long and with the Q & A, it will end by 12:40 pm. Registration is free but required for this online event.
