Join AnimeChicago at the Japanese Culture Center to celebrate the groundbreaking and cinematic storytelling of Mamoru Oshii. Known for his deeply philosophical and sweeping epics like Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor, and Urusei Yatsura, Oshii’s work is focuses on visual-storytelling and breathtaking action sequences.
The class will focus on body-weather, Noguchi, and mythical creatures through guided imagery and structured improvisation. Noguchi exercises foster an experience of the body as water with the goal of encountering and releasing the natural body.
You are invited to a screening of "Reunification" from filmmaker Alvin Tsang, in which for 17 years the filmmaker confronts memories of migration and his once intact family. Alvin will be attending in person for a Q&A after the screening.
