The Chicago Asian Network is deeply saddened to mark the passing of Mabel Menard. To the broader public, Mabel was a distinguished leader with an impressive resume; but to us at the Chicago Asian Network, she was a tireless champion of engagement, a constant presence who ensured our community remained connected and informed.

Mabel was an active participant who took it upon herself to bridge gaps, frequently sharing events and ensuring that people were updated on what was happening across the Chicago Asian landscape.

Her impact was felt across decades of service. At OCA–Greater Chicago, she led with heart as President from 2018 to 2025, later serving on the National Board. She helped bring people together and strengthened community celebrations, including Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

Her commitment to preserving history ran just as deep. At the Chinese American Museum of Chicago, she served in multiple roles: Executive Director, Board Vice President, and later Interim Executive Director—always stepping in wherever she was needed.

Mabel was also an educator, mentor, and advocate for wellness. Before her recent work at CMAA, she served in the mental health field with Adapt Illinois and taught future professionals at the University of Phoenix. With advanced degrees in Psychology, Business, and HR, she believed in the lifelong power of learning.

Mabel Menard was a compassionate voice for the AAPI community and a thoughtful leader who always put the collective good first. We will miss her updates, her advocacy, and her friendship.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family.
