Description

Raised Pinay is a benefit showcase that elevates the voices of an all-Pilipina identifying cast through sharing tough, touching, and honest self-written stories of their own experiences and those of their ancestors. These stories have been formed through monologues, poetry, visual art, song, and movement. While strengthening the Pinay voice and visibility, these gatherings will also feature Filipino artists and businesses.

This year, we are premiering our benefit showcase virtually on our YouTube and Twitch channels, and we welcome you to join us. Registration to attend our online showcase is free, with an option to donate to our beneficiaries, Roots of Health and the She Safe, We Safe initiative. Following the screening, a private Q&A with the cast and producers as well as our fundraiser raffle will take place. We invite you to join us LIVE in conversation and community after the screening!

DONATION INFORMATION (VIA EVENTBRITE & PAYPAL)

Beneficiary info: Roots of Health (Ugat Ng Kalusugan)

Roots of Health is leading the fight for reproductive rights in the Philippines by providing free clinical services and reproductive health education to young women and girls in the Philippines. Especially during the pandemic, any donations made will reach these ultra-vulnerable populations of women in the Philippines who are need of reproductive care and safety and support from gender-based violence.

Beneficiary info: She Safe, We Safe

She Safe, We Safe is a transformative movement campaign led by BYP100 to put an end to the different forms of gender violence that Black women, girls, femmes and gender non-conforming people face every day. We are embracing a dual strategy approach, which means that we will work to both shift culture & establish new ways of keeping each other safe within our communities AND work to fight against the violence of the state, particularly the patriarchal violence of the police.

ALL funds raised through raffles and general donations will be given directly to the 501c3 non-profit organization, Roots of Health (Ugat Ng Kalusugan) and the She Safe, We Safe initiative led by the Black Youth Project.

We recognize that this is a financially hard time for many and if you can’t give right now, please don’t and please don’t feel guilty. We simply ask for your support in uplifting the voices of Raised Pinay and the womxn and families we serve. But if you are able to give, and maybe even on behalf of those who cannot, please do so. Your generosity goes a long way.
