About this Event
"Asian American Identity and Self Compassion during Covid 19"
Dr. Ravi Chandra will teach the founding principles of Mindful Self Compassion, lead us in some self-compassion meditations, and also give perspectives on how to deal with microaggressions.
Ravi Chandra, M.D. is a psychiatrist and writer in San Francisco, and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Facebuddha: Transcendence in the Age of Social Networks is his full-length nonfiction debut, and is the winner of the 2017 Nautilus Silver Book Award for Religion/Spirituality of Eastern Thought. Dr. Chandra asserts that Asian Pacific Americans, like others, are attracted to social media for a sense of belonging, yet reliance on social media adversely affects physical and mental health. He is also the founder of SF Love Dojo, an organization teaching compassion and self-compassion.
