The 2020 recipient of the Cook County State’s Attorney Foxx’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Community Leadership Awards Ms. Aurora Austriaco, has been appointed to serve on the Racial Justice Diversity Committee by Chief Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer in the Northern District of Illinois.

This diversity committee will independently review any procedures or practices that might be helpful in aiding the Court to explore ways to address racial disparities in the federal court.

“The court recognizes that real change requires ongoing commitment and sustained effort”, Chief Judge Pallmeyer said. To achieve this, she has formed the panel that will seek to evaluate methods that may help overcome any barriers to achieving the goal of equal justice for all.

Austriaco is a women empowerment champion, having shared her knowledge in various related fora and serving as an inspiration to aspiring lawyers with her work over the years. She concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial and real estate litigation and transactions, defense of mortgage foreclosure, and other special chancery remedy cases.

She has been part of many associations such as the Chicago Bar Association (CBA), Center for Conflict Resolution, Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI), Asian American Bar Association (AABA), and was a founding board member of the Filipino American Bar Association.

With her on the diversity committee, the community is assured and beyond happy for her success.
