In the vast realm of the internet, where trends come and go like fleeting moments, there are some stories that stand out, leaving a mark on people’s hearts. One such heartwarming tale revolves around a father and son whose soulful singing video became a viral beacon of joy for millions around the world.

Meet Gabriel and Kael Lim, the father-son duo whose sweet tunes ringed beyond their home in Chicago and into hearts of people around the world.

Kael initially gained attention when the son created a cover of his favorite song, Bee Gees' “How Deep Is Your Love” and was shared by the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan in his Instagram story. When Gabriel, the dad, stepped into the microphone, it was then when their special bond created an irresistible harmony that gathered more audience to listen. “Funny enough, it was How Deep Is Your Love cover again, but this time, with Kael’s dad, that went viral,” they shared.

The dynamic duo version of “How Deep Is Your Love” crescendoed from being internet viral to television features. This was when they began to receive emails from ABC Work New Tonight with David Muir and got featured on their #AmericaStrong segment. “Soon after, we received an email from ABC7 Chicago for a live interview and then an interview for Chicago Sun Times on the same day,” they added.

It is quite surreal how singing and sharing your favorite song will unexpectedly be appreciated by thousands of people. This clamoring attention can impact the regular beats of your life. When Kael got sick after their World News Tonight with David Muir feature, he was recognized by a pharmacist when they went to get his medicine. “The pharmacist who’s about to prepare Kael’s medicine saw his name in the prescription and was like “Kael Lim? I follow you guys on Instagram. I didn’t know you’re from here!” They shared.

While this can be daunting for some, fortunately, this sudden shift in the note was nothing but positive for their relationship as a family. In fact, it was stronger than ever. “We also get to love music more. It also widened our knowledge for different genres of music.”

When asked what was the inspiration behind the videos, the response was very evident, “We just love to sing! We’ve been singing for years.” Music has always been their special bond that roots back to Gabriel’s musical life in the Philippines. “In the Philippines, 70s, 80s music playing on the radio was like our alarm clock every Sunday morning because of our parents and grandparents, so older music genres were our favorite.” This influenced Kael’s affiliation with old genres and song choices for the videos as well.

Recording the songs was just an aftereffect of the duo’s shared passion–something that has also become their family bonding experience. Like a symphonic orchestra, the family of three has their own instruments to play. They shared that as Kael and dad sing together, mom is the one who films and records. Thereafter, the dad edits while mom uploads and manages the social media. Truly harmonious, in tune, and on beat.

As the playlist of their life goes on, the world eagerly anticipates the next chapter in the musical odyssey of Kael and Gabriel. Although they shared that there are no future projects for now, they plan to enroll Kael in voice lessons to foster his interest even more. With this, our audience can expect to hear more resounding tunes and melodies from this father-son duo.
